Energica made its debut on Sachsenring racetrack during the inaugural weekend of MotoE.
The series had been stopped due to the Jerez fire but thanks to the hard work of Energica team, all Ego Corsa motorcycles and the material necessary for the World Cup were restored in less than three months.
After the hard work and dedication from the Italian company and all partners involved, the time has finally come for the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup to go racing.

On Friday the series was introduced by an official Press Conference held by Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta, Enel X CEO Francesco Venturini and Energica CEO Livia Cevolini.
With topics wide-ranging and each covering a different aspect of the new Cup, there were statements from the three as well as questions from the floor.

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports: “It’s a historic moment, for us, the Championship, the MotoGP Championship started more than 70 years ago and until now, all the races have been with fuel and this is the first time with another energy source”.

Francesco Venturini, CEO of Enel X: “It is a great opportunity to show there is also a different way to do motor racing. For us it is very important to be a sponsor and provide the technology to this competition. Electric mobility is part of our innovative, sustainable business as well as part of the energy transition the world is embracing“.

Livia Cevolini, CEO of Energica: “It’s very exciting for all of us. It’s a choice of business for us, we’re a young manufacturer and we are the first to manufacture and sell these kinds of vehicles around the world so it was important for us from the business point of view to be here, but we are also passionate about motorcycle racing. So being here, making history and making a new innovative path in racing is very exciting. We’re delighted to be here as protagonists.”

The inaugural race of the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup at the Sachsenring saw a hard-fought battle for the win with four riders involved at the front. The E-Pole winner Niki Tuuli came out on top on his Ajo MotoE Energica Ego Corsa to edge Bradley Smith (One Energy Racing) and Mike Di Meglio (EG 0,0 Marc VDS), with Tech3 E-Racing’s Hector Garzo in fourth place.

“Words cannot express how excited I was to finally see the inaugural race of the FIM MotoE World Cup” said Energica CEO Livia Cevolini. “Our Ego Corsa machines, ridden by incredibly talented riders, stole the show today. We are extremely happy with how the weekend unfolded and with the performance of the bikes – and so are the riders, given the great feedback we received in the official press conference. It is now time to return to our headquarters in Modena to start the preparations for the next event. A huge thank you goes to all the parties involved, our shareholders, everyone at Energica who worked day and night to make all this possible – and of course to all the fans, who showed an amazing amount of support”.

The closing of the first stage of MotoE is the best opportunity for the Italian company to introduce a new member of the team: Energica is pleased to welcome Andrea Greppi as Sport Production Dept. Manager.
Greppi will bring his over 20 years of racing knowledge and experience to Energica having worked for weel-known racing teams as Minardi, Ferrari and Scuderia Toro Rosso.
