Two races and 50 points up for grabs will decide this weekend the winner of the 2021 edition of the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup, powered by Energica, as the series has arrived at the Misano World Circuit ‘Marco Simoncelli’ for the epilogue of what has been an incredibly exciting season of MotoGP’s all-electric series.

Four riders are the leading candidates for the ultimate prize – many others are still mathematically in contention, albeit with limited chances to succeed – as Alessandro Zaccone (OCTO Pramac MotoE) enters the final round with seven, eight and eleven points ahead of Eric Granado (One Energy Racing), Jordi Torres (Pons Racing 40) and Dominque Aegerter (Dynavolt IntactGP), respectively.

Of the four main contenders, Eric Granado is undoubtedly the one with the biggest momentum entering the San Marino and Rimini Riviera Grand Prix having bagged the most points in the last two rounds – he won the Dutch race and was second at the Red Bull Ring in Austria after an incredible comeback. These results have allowed the talented Brazilian to massively improve his title chances after some setbacks experienced in previous events.

Alessandro Zaccone and Jordi Torres have been the most consistent ones, although the current leader of the standings had quite a challenging race at the Red Bull Ring with some set up issues due to the uncertainty regarding track conditions before the start of the encounter. Nevertheless, not only was he able to make it to the finish line, but he managed to secure an incredible sixth place – all things considered. The reigning World Cup champion, on the other hand, has yet to step atop the podium this year just like Dominique Aegerter, whose situation in the standings was negatively affected by the crash in Assen.

There are several other riders who could play a part in the outcome of this final battle: Lukas Tulovic (Tech 3 E-Racing) and Miquél Pons (LCR E-Team), who have already won one race apiece, Matteo Ferrari (Indonesian E-Racing Gresini MotoE), who has won four MotoE races out of five at this track, and Mattia Casadei (Ongetta Sic58 Squadracorse), who has finished on the podium twice at his home circuit (once per year).

MotoE action will kick start tomorrow at 8:20 local time (GMT +2) for Free Practice 1, with the two races getting underway on Saturday at 16:20 and on Sunday at 15:30. The final MotoE race will be followed by an official parade on track with the World Cup champion followed by a large group of Energica customers, all aboard their beloved motorcycles. This is only one of the many activities of the first-ever Energica Week, an incredible initiative to celebrate the Italian brand and the outstanding network of people and companies which contribute to the success of the all-electric Made-in-Modena motorcycle manufacturer.
