The road to the 2019 FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup continues as MotoGP™ returns to the Old Continent for the first Grand Prix of the season on European soil. After looking good at Losail, Termas de Rio Hondo and Austin, it is now time for the state-of-the-art, racing-oriented electric superbike Energica Ego Corsa to have its demonstration lap at Jerez de la Frontera in Southern Spain.

The Grand Prix of Spain is one of the most anticipated racing weekends of the entire season, and a very appealing one for fans from all corners of the country – and Europe – who show up in their hundreds of thousands to see their heroes battling for honours.

In this exciting amphitheatre of racing, the Energica Ego Corsa will be ridden around the 4.4km (2.75 mile) fast-flowing ‘Circuito de Jerez’ by 2011 125cc World Champion Nico Terol. The 29-year-old from Alcoy – a town in the Autonomous community of Valencia in Spain – has a wealth of experience across many series and on different types of motorbikes. His feedback will therefore be extremely important for the final stages of the development of the Ego Corsa ahead of 2019.

“I’m very excited for this opportunity given to me by Energica, Enel and Dorna”, says Nico. “To ride the Ego Corsa at Jerez, I also need to thank my squad, the Angel Nieto team, for allowing me to take part in this demo lap. I have already seen the bike on TV at previous events and I must say it looks really good, and the sound is not bad at all! The riders who have tested the Ego Corsa before have said that its acceleration is incredible, so I am looking forward to trying it myself. I’m proud to be getting this chance at such a great track like Jerez; I’m sure I will have a lot of fun, so thank you to everyone who made it happen.”

The demo lap of the Energica Ego corsa at Jerez will begin on Sunday 6th of May at 13:20 local time (GMT +2).
